Walter Trier (1890-1951), newspaper cartoonist and illustrator, was forced to break off his studies at the Prague School for Arts and Crafts, as he was deemed to be lacking in ability. In 1910 he moved to Berlin, where he quickly became one of the most famous cartoonists in the country.
