An epic novel set in Russia at the turn of the 20th Century about a young Jewish woman caught in the cross-currents of traditional faith and the dawning revolutionary age.

'Your Mouth Is Lovely' follows the story of Miriam, a teenager who had been sent into Siberian exile for murder. In a letter to her daughter - whom she was forced to give up at birth - Miriam presents a haunting flashback to a shtetl in Belarus, where everyone, except herself, knew the secrets of her parents' past and the mystery behind her young mother's suicide.

Miriam is raised and educated by her stepmother, Tsila - a woman with an enigmatic past and a reputation of her own. In a village isolated by hate, Miriam and Tsila are treated as outcasts for reasons Miriam comes to understand only after she becomes a mother - unmarried, abandoned and imprisoned.

As Miriam narrates the story of her childhood, she brings to life the picturesque and poignant culture of the shtetl in the last days of Imperial Russia before the explosion of the Revolution.

It is a spellbinding story about an individual caught in the circumstances of her era and the small choices, twists of fate and betrayals that determine a particular life, at the great, transitional moments in history.
