An inspirational guide to living a peaceful and more fulfilled life.
By all accounts, Petrea King is an extraordinary woman. Since being told she would not last till Christmas after being diagnosed with leukaemia in September 1983, she has lived her life to the full, confounding her doctors, and giving comfort and hope to countless people in similar circumstances.
Over the last 16 years she has counselled people in times of crisis, especially those diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Most leave her Quest For Life Centre with a restored faith in life, and many experience long periods of remission or appear to have beaten their disease completely. Almost all say they are grateful for their disease, or say it's the best thing that ever happened to them, because it brought them to Petrea King and helped them understand what it meant to really live.
Former premier of NSW, John Fahey, says the most positive hour of his entire recuperation period from lung cancer were spent with Petrea. "She was inspiring, and from that day I learnt about the power that comes with having a positive attitude. If people believe in themselves they can overcome extraordinary odds. I am a better person as a result." Socceroos legend and cancer survivor says Johnny Warren says: "Petrea is an inspirational Aussie angel! She helped me though the darkest time of my life and showed me what living really is. I wish I'd spoken to her years before. Everyone needs that kind of inspiration in their lives."
Until now, Petrea's books have been about overcoming disease and living positively - and have sold very well given the reasonably limited market that this entails. But a few years ago she expanded her horizons considerably and opened up the Quest for Life Centre to everyone looking for peace of mind - and since then she has been inundated by visitors and requests for a general book that encompasses philosophies and teachings for all those seeking a calmer, more fulfilled life.
