Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise are regarded as Britain's most successful and best loved comedy duo, and their television shows from the 1970's and 80's regarded as their finest work.
The audience were treated to comic gems such as Ernie's hilariously badly written "the play what I wrote", usually starring a 'mystery guest'. Such was the pair's comic standing that the stars who took part included Penelope Keith, Flora Robson, Laurence Olivier, John Mills, Vanessa Redgrave, Peter Cushing and Glenda Jackson (as Cleopatra: "All men are fools. And what makes them so is having beauty like what I have got...").
Illustrated with hilarious photos from the show, which feature many of the long-suffering stars, and edited by Eddie Braben (who with Morecambe and Wise became known as "The Golden Triangle") this is a must for any fans of classic comedy.
