This is primarily a book of pictures but with an accompanying text in which Quentin Blake traces the development of his work as an artist over the last fifty years. Gathered together are: a) pictures which are familiar from new books or those still available, and these include his illustrations from the Roald Dahl books. b) drawings from books and magazines which appeared early in his career, and c) a number of drawings which have not been in print before - roughs and layouts involved in preparation for a book. The text brings together thoughts on how he set about the business of illustration and how his work came into being.
