Dedicated to saving and protecting a world that fears and reviles him, the mutant superhero Wolverine -- also known as Logan -- is a stranger to himself, his elusive past revealed to him only in the briefest flashes of memory. So when a photograph of a Canadian veteran of World War II conjures up half-formed images of violence, blood, and pain, Logan sets out on a search for answers that leads him to a startling realisation: he was once a prisoner of war at a Nazi concentration camp.
But there's more to the story. During his time as a POW, Logan was experimented on by a ruthless Nazi scientist named Wolfgang von Stucker, who was obsessed with unlocking the secrets of Logan's mutant healing factor. And what Logan doesn't know is that the scientist is still at large, having extended his lifespan thanks to those very experiments. In spit of his advanced age, von Trucker continues to thirst for true immortality -- and when he finds out that Logan is alive, he'll stop at nothing to finish what he started sixty years earlier...
