A magical tale, magnificently illustrated, about pride and forgiveness, adapted from a legend told by the Algonquin people of North America
"I am an old grey wolf, guardian spirit to the people who live in the high mountains."
Wild Wolf adapts a story from the Algonquin people of North America. Proud Girl is the beautiful daughter of a chief, and Bravest Warrior comes to ask her to marry him.But not even he is good enough for Proud Girl and she refuses him.
Bravest Warrior makes Ice Man from rags and bones, and dresses him in his own finest clothes. When Proud Girl sees Ice Man she falls in love with him and follows him through the snow and cold shadows. But in the sun he melts away, leaving old bones.
Lost in the snow, Proud Girl would have died if Grey Wolf had not pulled Ice Man's blanket over her. And Bravest Warrior, his heart melted with sorrow for what he has done, comes searching for her and finds her. Proud Girl too has changed, and she returns with Bravest Warrior to live with him in his home by the Great Lake.
