White ? the very symbol of purity, light and minimalistic perfection. Be it white on the inside or the outside, the contemporary Japanese houses presented in this unique, never-before-seen collection show the wildest possibilities of how one can live in a private space. Over the last decade, tight structural limitations and scarcity of space have inspired Japanese architects to explore boundaries, and the result is an incomparable number of extraordinary masterpieces scattered all over the Land of the Rising Sun. AUTHOR: Photographer Sergio Pirrone has been shaped by the outstanding architecture found in Japan, transforming him from a ?traveller with a compact camera to a professional architectural photographer?. Pirrone was born in Palermo, Italy, and in addition to being a photographer, is also trained as an architect and a writer. After receiving a Ph.D. in architecture from the University of Tokyo, Pirrone established Sergio Pirrone Photojournalism LLP. Pirrone's photography and articles have been widely published internationally. White Houses is a perfect platform on which to showcase Pirrone's photography. Author Chua Yen Ping has travelled the world over and has found Japanese architecture to be the most striking. Yen was born in Singapore and her career includes mathematics lecturing, a Ph.D. in environmental studies from the University of Tokyo, and numerous articles on architecture in acclaimed international publications.
