This original and innovative book makes clear that more attention needs to be paid - at all levels of the educational system - to developing the imagination of our young people. Intercultural exchange - particularly with Islam - will not succeed unless the importance of the imaginative element is fully appreciated. This book addresses itself to all educators and challenges them not to lose sight of the myth and the muse in their daily teaching practice. Our rapidly evolving society can only benefit by allowing greater room for intuition and inventiveness in the dialogue between different ethnic groups. AUTHOR: Marc Colpaert (1945) is a cultural philosopher, who worked for many years as a journalist specialising in S.E. Asia. His contact with Asian civilisations led him to discover the great ideologies and philosophies of the Orient. Following the events of 11 September, he has tried to shed new light on the other side of Islam. Since 2003 - at the request of Canon and Kleur Bekennen - he has been advising the 'Blossoming Open' project for teachers. ILLUSTRATIONS 10 b/w illustrations
