Sequal to 'Once Were Warriors'.
Duff takes up the story of the Heke family six years after Grace's suicide. Jakes progress is painful, hard earned, not happy ever after, but there is a particular optimism amid the blood and guts of jails, gangs, drugs and nihilistic hatreds. Just as in-your-face as Once Were Warriors, but less violent, more layered, more fundamentally thoughtful and challenging.
