From Dark Peak on the Pennine Way in Derbyshire to the misty Malverns in Worcestershire and Milk Hill on the Mid-Wilts Way, walking the county high points provides the perfect opportunity for ramblers to experience the English countryside. An indefatigable walker, David Bathurst has unlaced his boots to produce this unique companion to the country's most rewarding hilltop trails. His appreciation of the beauty and history of the British countryside and his light-hearted style will appeal to experienced and novice walkers alike. AUTHOR: David Bathurst was born in Guildford in 1959 and has enjoyed writing and walking throughout his adult life. He has walked all the principal long-distance paths in Great Britain, and his guide to walking these routes, entitled The Beaten Track, was published by Summersdale in 2001. He has written nine other books, including a guide to walking the coastline of Sussex which appeared in 2002, as well as books on children's literature and the work of magistrates' courts. David's chief claim to fame is his recitation of all four Gospels from memory in a single day in 1998, and he recited the Book of Psalms, the longest book of the Bible, from memory in one day in 2002. By profession he is a legal adviser to the magistrates sitting at Chichester and Worthing.
