The school bell has rung and a child is waiting for Mum to collect her. But Mum doesn't arrive. Soon the girl is surrounded with all sorts of "worries", which are given lives of their own in this gentle, funny story. The child deals firmly with each of her anxieties and is safe and calm when her mother eventually turns up.
The story is full of charming humour with the safety first messages integrated unobtrusively into the text. The child follows the rules for what to do if a parent/carer does not arrive to pick them up.
The Safety Centre of the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, in conjunction with Esso, ran a children's writing competition with the theme of "Safety". The winning stories were given to a professional writer to turn into picture book texts. The two other titles in this series are 'Over The Hill And 'Round The Bend With Granny And Bert And Me' and 'Beach Treasures'.
