Steve Vizard in the early 1990's, the name referred to a man who was looked on as a show business icon, the man who revolutionalised television comediy in Australia. He was a Gold Logie winner, and the wise-cracking, stunt-pulling host of the top-rating "Tonight Live". He was the creator of memorable characters such as the air steward Darryl, Fakari rug salesman Roger Ramshett and Hunch. The late 1990's saw him work extensively in the arts sector and as a philanthropist. In 2005, in one swift blow, Steve Vizard went from icon to pariah. Accused of insider trading and of breaching his director's duties, he was fined $390,000 and disqualified from being involved in the management of companies for 10 years.
'Vizard Uncut' gives us the complete, complex story of the man, from an insider who knows the business inside and out. From a bucolic childhood in suburban Melbourne, to student life in Carlton, to stints as an underwear salesman, corporate lawyer, television personality, establishment man, and his subsequent downfall, this is a story that has it all.
