Expelled from his childhood home in the country, Scottish Terrier Parker becomes "urban dog", in which guise he helps his hapless but affable master earn a living by providing him with copy for a weekly newspaper column. It proves a battle for them both: to learn to tolerate each others idiosyncrasies, to climb out of the dog-basket they have shared, to survive heartbreak and ridicule and to learn to concentrate for more than five minutes.
Just as they seemed to have achieved domestic comfort in Notting Hill, their lives took another strange twist that would set them on opposite sides of the Atlantic.
