The Golden Tower is a beautifully written fantasy with elements of magic, mythology and time travel. It is based on the Italian Renaissance period and has wonderful imagery of the Italian palazzos and countryside. This story has a strong femal progagonist who deals with magical and real life villans and bullies and learns how to handle both with courage and strength. A very entertaining read! - Tracey (QBD)

Untitled
The Golden Tower is a fantastic book for middle-graders looking for a book to bridge the gap between very junior fiction and more substantiall reads like Harry Potter. Sophie is shy, dyslexic and sometimes bullied at school when she accidentally crosses to Tuscia, a fantasy Renaissance-era Italy where she gets entangled in a plot to remove the royal family from the throne. A creative, warm story about friendship and empathy. Easy to read, but doesn't bring anything particularly mind-blowing to the fore. - Laura (QBD)
