The Third Tommy & Tuppence Novel: 1940s - 1950s.
It is World War II, and while the RAF struggles to keep the Luftwaffe at bay, Britain faces an even more sinister threat from the enemy within - Nazis posing as ordinary citizens.
With pressure mounting, the Intelligence service appoints two unlikely spies, Tommy and Tuppence Beresford. Their mission: to seek out two highly-placed traitors, a man and a woman hiding among the colourful guests at Sans Souci, a prim seaside boarding house. But this assignment is no stroll along the promenade. After all, N and M have just murdered Britain's finest agent . . .
Tommy and Tuppence by the Seaside
Tommy and Tuppence are my favourite Agatha Christie sleuths, because they could so easily be you and me, unlike Hercule Poirot. This story is set duing WWII and T & T are down in a seaside resort looking for the so-called Fourth Column. Paralleled against the paranoia of recent world events, it's an interesting read, showing that, in the end, people haven't changed between the 1940s and today. We still jump to conclusions based on race, colour and religion. However it's a jolly good romp and a worth successor to T & T's WWI adventures.
