Archival Interviews with the Survivors.
Compiled from the ABC archives, the interviews on this cassette are fascinating because they are recounted by actual survivors from the Titanic. Many of the survivors recall how the initial reactions on board the ship when it hit the iceberg were calm and unconcerned, and how it took some time before the passengers realised that the ship was really going down.
The survivors tell of the scene surrounding the loading of the lifeboats in freezing conditions, and the incredible noise as the ship finally sank followed by the awful screams of those passengers who didn't make it onto the lifeboats. These calls for help continued for some time after the ship went down. The numbers of survivors and fatalities has remained a subject for debate.
