How tough is tough? Tina Tuff is eleven, and she lives up to her name. She's the head of a cool gang, the Coucals, and there's no room for wimps and losers in the Coucals.
Any kid who wants to be in the Coucals has to pass a test of toughness. When one test goes disastrously wrong, Tina's family decide that they've had enough of her behaviour, and she is sent away from home to be straightened out by her granny.
Granny Tuff looks like any little old grey-haired lady, but really she is super tough. Away from anywhere on her granny's rundown old farm, Tina finds that she must face the toughest test of all.
