This is the story of how Tiger Woods changed his life, his game and the way the world views golf. Other biographies have dealt with his life up to when he won the 1997 Masters, but his experiences in the years that have followed could fill a lifetime. Since he burst onto the golfing scene, top writer and commentator Tim Rosaforte has been a close observer of his life on and off the course.
Rosaforte explains how things did not immediately seem to go according to plan after Tiger's first major: his control was off, and in 1998 there were few victories even though he felt he was improving. But in 1999, having worked hard on his swing with Butch Harmon, he had an epiphany and started winning regularly, including his second major at the PGA in 1999. From then on, he seemed almost unbeatable, often winning tournaments by huge margins.
Symbolically in the 2000 British Open at St Andrews, Jack Nicklaus was playing his last round while the new hero was moving to an inevitable victory by eight shots, never once landing in the bunker during the whole tournament. Suddenly the battle was almost always for second place.
