A warm and perceptive portrait of the complexities of family life, 'Tidewater' tells the story of Desna Hindmarch, the wife of a wealthy Devonshire shipyard owner and mother of two. Secure financially and socially, her principal concerns are her children and family, all of whom she's invited for Easter.
There are her sisters: Nell, who yet again has allowed herself to be duped by a former lover who no one else likes; dreamy Emmet, who runs an animal hospital and who is far more at home with nature than in the middle-class environment Desna and Nell favour. And their mother Mo, Bohemian, slightly eccentric and uncannily perceptive when it comes to family dynamics. Then Persis, Mo's estranged sister, arrives; a rich, darkly mysterious and highly successful sculptor who, for some reason, has decided that now is the time to walk back into their lives. With her arrival, a simple family get-together turns into an occasion of conflict as related individuals with strong wills and dark secrets converge on the Hindmarch riverside home.
