Emmett is a typical 'weekend dad'. He sees his seven-year-old daughter Misty on trips to the zoo, or the park and does his best to bond with the little girl who until a few weeks ago he never even knew existed. The rest of the time, he tries to adapt to life in a vast city, works in a dingy bookshop with a cast of misfits and writes bad poetry on the side. It's a long way from the life of the artist that Emmett had planned. But life is like that: just when you think you have it all under control, it comes crashing down around you.
So, when Misty's mum, Amanda, drops a bombshell, Emmett finds that he has to dig deep, step up and be the dad that Misty deserves. Then into his life walks single mum Daisy, and Emmett has to confront the truth about who he really is and who he wants to be. It turns out that being a father is a full-time job after all - and one that Emmett might just be good at.
