There is a function at The Thursday Club, whose members include a bear, a kangaroo, an owl, a duck and an elephant and other animals. The stories are in verse, ranging from four-liners to narrative poems of several pages, cumulative verses, jingles and verses that can be sung to familiar tunes. The brief linking passages given an opportunity for little quizzes and running gags, and for developing the characters.
