Alec Leamas had been with the Circus a long time. Maybe too long, at least since the Berlin station was blown and every field agent caught or dead. But Circus does not take lightly to defeat and Leamas must stay out in the cold a little longer.
With no back-up and months of deep cover behind him, Leamas suddenly finds himself in the hands of a man whose reputation he knows only too well. And even though things seem to be going according to plan, he hasn't anticipated the one card they have left to play against him.
