Medical researcher Sharon Powell is the daughter of Biochemtech's one and only Nobelist, the man who developed Sperilac - a cure for AIDS. But for the past seven years Sperilac has been locked up in a steel-walled vault beneath the labs - the result of a conspiracy to protect the profits of less-advanced pharmaceutical companies.
Sharon helps out at the Harvey Milk AIDS Clinic and sees first hand the hideous suffering of victims in the last stages of the disease. When she learns that a doctor and many patients are desperate to try Sperilac, she starts smuggling the drug to them for unauthorised trials. As a result, a hundred more lives have been saved, but hundreds of thousands are still dying.
Meanwhile the most powerful drug barons in the US are concerned that AIDS is wiping out the cocaine users they rely on. It's vital that they get their hands on Sperilac if their lucrative industry is to survive, and they won't hesitate to destroy every obstacle in their path . . .
