Jacob has just escaped Harmony, a colony in which blindness is the chosen way of life. Armed with his new gift of sight, and the knowledge that his rebellious friend Delaney is still alive, Jacob travels to Melville, a city of Seers.
Jacob quickly learns that the corruption he despised in his isolated community is also present in the city. Desperate to find his place in life, he is torn between running back home to his family and staying among hostile Seers. Worse, his gift of vision may involve more than seeing the world around him. Jacob must learn how he can use his powers to help, before trusted leaders in both Harmony and Melville use their powers to hurt the ones he loves the most.
