My Life in Motoring
Peter Wherrett's lifelong love affair with driving and love-hate relationship with the automobile began at fourteen when, on a long, straight stretch of road outside Canberra, he badgered his mother into letting him take the wheel of the family Morris Minor.
Since that pivotal act of indulgence Peter has been a race driver, rally driver, motoring journalist and industry consultant. He has taught countless people essential road skills through his schools of advanced driving, presented the huge influential and long-running ABC Television series "Torque", and crisscrossed the continent to produce the first comprehensive guide to four-wheel driving in Australia. In Australian motoring parlance the name Wherrett is about as familiar as "Holden" or "Ford".
'The Quest for the Perfect Car' is the story of a brilliant, if at times turbulent, career, written with the characteristic dry humour, lack of pretence and blunt honesty that has endeared Peter Wherrett to countless TV viewers and motoring enthusiasts.
