'The Quentaris Chronicles' is a collection of stand-alone fantasy books from some of Australia's finest authors.
Twelve-year old Jaq Colbin gets caught up in an adventure when his fruit barrow is bowled over by a gang of vandals. The vandals injure a stranger during the confusion, and Jaq feels honour bound to take him to the hospital. The stranger turns out to be an earth magician, who interrogates Jaq about the vandals. Jaq becomes intrigued and convinces the earth magician to take him along on his mission to find the vandals and the antiquities they've stolen: stones from the famous Simesian stairs.
It soon becomes apparent that there is more to these vandals than meets the eye. They are actually in the employ of a megalomaniacal earth magician, who's working to unleash the power of a stone elemental onto Quentaris. And the raw material he needs for his diabolical work are the ancient stones of the monuments around the city. Jaq's knowledge of the city enables the earth magician and his three mysterious friends to continue their search for the vandals in the hope of disrupting their devious designs.
