Final book in the 'Master Of The Ghost Dreaming' series.

Set during gold rush days, this book concludes Mudrooroo's fantastical voyage through the history of Australia around the time of its colonisation by the British. Amelia Fraser, the white vampire woman, represents the monstrous nature of the British Empire, sucking the blood from the land and its native people and carelessly tossing the corpses aside.

The novel examines the greed of many of the British colonisers for the riches Australia's red earth had to offer, and the depths they were prepared to plumb to secure their share of it. It also addresses historians' habit of rewriting facts and events to create a more palatable history. This is satire at its most cutting, and entertaining.
