For generations, 'The Nutcracker' has been a cherished story. On this CD you can enjoy favourite excerpts from the story, fully interwoven with music from the famous ballet by Tchaikovsky - a true classic.
Christmas a time when miracles may be possible and the dream of a little girl can come true. On Christmas Eve, Father Christmas arrives with a sack full of presents. When a single present is left at the bottom of the sack - the Nutcracker - Father Christmas mysteriously disappears. Nobody likes the doll, only little Marie feels tender sympathy for it. On this festive night the Mouse King arrives with his army. The brave tin soldiers and the Nutcracker come to the defence and the Nutcracker is fatally wounded. Uncle Drosselmeyer suddenly arrives and revives the knight of Marie's dreams and transforms the ugly Nutcracker and Marie into a handsome prince and princess. Both heroes find themselves in a ball in a fairytale palace. They dance, glorifying youth, friendship and love. But the dawn is breaking. Little Marie wakes up. Was everything just a dream?
