The Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon is book number fourteen in the popular Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith. Botswana’s private detective has a few interesting cases to solve: a solicitor asks her to look into the identity of a young man who is the beneficiary of a will; and the proprietor of the Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon is subject to threats from someone trying to destroy her business and it's all the more challenging for Mma Ramotswe, as her offsider and dear friend Mma Makutsi heavilly pregnant and about to go on maternity leave.
As is the case with all the books in this series it's more about the characters than the cases themselves. Mma Makutsi and her husband Phuti have moved into a new house but unfortunately a cobra has also decided he likes the house as well, Phuti's dominating aunt also comes to stay causing tension for Mma Makutsi.
Although a part of a series you can read this book as a stand alone however I would suggest starting from book one to really get a feel for the characters. - Wade (QBD)
