Meet Ed Kennedy - cab driving prodigy, pathetic card player and useless at sex. He lives in the suburbs, shares coffee with his dog, the Doorman, and he's in nervous-love with Audrey. His life is one of peaceful routine and incompetence - until he inadvertently stops a bank robbery. That's when the first ace turns up. That's when Ed becomes the messenger. Chosen to care, he makes his way through town, helping and hurting (where necessary) until only one question remains. Who's behind Ed's mission? The Messenger, by the highly acclaimed author Markus Zusak, is a cryptic journey filled with laughter, fists and love.
The Messenger
This book caught my eye when I ran out of books to read. I had heard great things about Markus Zusak and thought I would take a chance. It's about a man named Ed Kennedy who is just your ordinary bloke who ends up inadvertently stopping a bank robbery. Then one day he receives his first playing card that contained 3 addresses written on it. It is from here that Ed becomes the Messenger. It is his journey through the town, helping, solving and hurting but who is behind Ed's mission It's well written for young adults and is just a lovely, funny and really intriguing read. It keeps you wanting more and more the further you read you are just dying to find out who is behind all this and why is he the chosen one. Reviewed by 01cg.
