Joe and Maria Korp had a perfect life: two children, a lavish acreage and a loving marriage - until the day Maria was found dying in the boot of her abandoned car.
Maria and Joe Korp had just built their dream home on Melbourne's northern fringe when Joe first met Tania Herman, an athletic blonde pining for romance. The pair began a steamy affair, with Herman indulging Korp's partner-swapping fetishes, something his Catholic wife opposed.
When Maria learnt of her husband's philandering, tensions reached fever-pitch - and one year after Korp and Herman's ill-fated romance began, Maria was discovered near death in the boot of her dumped vehicle.
Korp and Herman were charged with her attempted murder. Scorned and vulnerable, Herman confessed everything - but Korp, the consummate deceiver, protested his innocence.
Herman was tried and sentenced for attempted murder before Maria Korp's death in August 2005. But justice never found Joe Korp. On the day of his wife's funeral, he hung himself in the shed of the family home.
