When cheerful, optimistic "Lucky" Morgenstern discovers, much to his dismay, that his first name is actually Herbert and that "Lucky" was a nickname given to him by his grandfather, Herbert's happy attitude vanishes along with his renowned good fortune. But when his grandfather falls ill, Herbert realizes he's lucky to have him for a best friend, and the boy's renewed optimism sparks Grandfather's recovery.
