Eager young Oxford University scholar of ancient mythology, Diana Morgan, is scoffed at by her colleagues for her fixation on the fabled tribe of Ancient Greece. But when a mysterious foundation invites her to consult on a new excavation intent on proving that the Amazons actually lived, she feels vindicated at last. Soon, Diana and her enigmatic employer, Nick Barran, are tracing the historical footsteps of the first Amazon warriors through the Sahara Desert, increasingly aware that someone is hot on their heels, determined to beat them to a stolen treasure that Nick seems equally determined to find first, no matter the danger to Diana’s safety.
Diana's discoveries are interwoven with the story of the Amazonian's founding members, led by the legendary queen, Myrina. From their peaceful beginnings in North Africa, Myrina and a small group of women embark upon a perilous quest to track down the men who brutally raided their temple and kidnapped their companions. This quest takes them first to the island of Crete, where Myrina meets the famed Prince Paris of Troy.
As Diana and Nick’s present-day journey shadows Myrina’s ancient one, it becomes frighteningly clear that the Amazons were not only very much alive in their day, but that their day may not be over.
