Arriving in Australia as a "10 pound Pom" in 1966 with her husband Rod, Liz Mullinar thought she had gone to heaven. After the break-up of her marriage three years later, Liz decided to stay on and start Australia's first-ever casting consultancy. From risky beginnings, she succeeded brilliantly.
Since the 1970s, her company has cast such TV classics as "Home and Away", "Police Rescue" and "The Leaving of Liverpool" and films such as "Picnic at Hanging Rock", "Dead Calm" and "Sirens". Liz was instrumental in shaping the careers of some of Australia's best known actors, including Geoffrey Rush, Colin Friels, Cate Blanchett, Claudia Karvan and Jacqueline McKenzie.
However, in 1993 - at the height of her career, casting, teaching and happily remarried - her life changed. A mystery illness struck. The repercussions meant that Liz embarked on a different path, leaving the world of entertainment, founding a national charity for the survivors of child abuse, and studying to enter the Anglican priesthood.
In 'The Liz Mullinar Story', she recounts her remarkable life in an entertaining frank and fearless style. Liz Mullinar writes with her brother, Simon Hopkinson.
