'The Black Echo'
One Sunday Harry Bosch gets a call out on his pager. A body has been found in a drainage tunnel off Mulholland Drive, Hollywood. And Harry knows him. Billy Meadows was a fellow tunnel rat out in Vietnam, running against the VC and against the fear they used to call the Black Echo. Harry let Meadows down once. He won't do it again.
'The Black Ice'
The corpse in the hotel room appears to be that of a missing LAPD narcotics officer. Rumours abound that the cop had crossed over - selling a new drug called Black Ice that had been inflitrating LA from Mexico - and the LAPD brass are quick to declare his death a suicide. Harry Bosch isn't so sure . . .
'The Concrete Blonde'
When Harry Bosch shot and killed Norman Church, the police were convinced it marked the end of the hunt for the Dollmaker - LA's most bizarre serial killer. But now Church's widow is accusing Harry of killing the wrong man, and to make things worse, Harry has just received a taunting note that appears to be from the Dollmaker himself . . .
