When the freshly-backed gingerbread boy escapes from the oven, a chase begins. The old woman chases the gingerbread boy, but she cannot catch him. The farmer runs after the gingerbread boy, but he cannot catch him either. A pig, a goat, a cow and a horse all chase after the gingerbread boy, but even the animals cannot catch him. Finally, the gingerbread boy stops at a river, exhausted. He cannot swim across. A fox suddenly appears and offers the gingerbread boy a ride across the river. The gingerbread boy trusts the fox and accepts his offer, only to find he is gobbled up by the fox!
