Don't look down . . .
Claire and Keith Malvern have left the hustle and bustle of Seattle to pursue their dream of owning a bed-and-breakfast. Although the daily struggle to renovate the old fishing lodge adds pressure to their relationship, the couple have found contentment in their new lives in the tiny coastal town.
The chance to begin anew offers Keith a quieter life outside the corporate world, and gives Claire the time to concentrate on her art. Just when they've almost found the peace they've been searching for, Keith's body is found in the river.
Keith's death is labelled a suicide, even though only one person has come through as a witness, saying Keith jumped off the bridge at Bloodroot Falls in the middle of the night.
While Claire knows instinctively that Keith wouldn't have taken his own life so carelessly and unexpectedly, she has no cause to believe someone would want to see him dead. Local sheriff Nick Braden understands Claire's desperation to uncover the mystery of her husband's death, but none of the evidence seems to add up.
Then small-town secrets begin to unravel, and Nick cannot deny that Claire's instincts about her husband's death may be correct. As Nick and Claire begin digging into her husband's past, they start to uncover a shocking portrait of what really happened that September night.
And someone knows that Claire is getting ever closer to discovering the entire truth - close enough to be silenced forever.
