Illustrated by Nicoletta Ceccoli.
A simple woodcutter helps a faery and is rewarded with a wish. He holds it gently in his calloused hands. It is the most beautiful thing he has ever seen. But what will he wish for? A child for his wife, sight for his mother, or the gold that his father so wisely suggests. Eventually he wishes that his mother could see "our baby lying here in a cradle of gold".
A poignant, warm story, full of love.
