This encyclopedia combines hard facts about dinosaurs with feature spreads detailing their lifestyle, behaviour, other members of the family and habitat.
Two sections introduce the reader to the world of the dinosaurs, discussing how life on earth began and how animals evolved, as well as how we know about the dinosaurs from the work of geologists and paleontologists. A short section at then end of the book portrays the catastrophic events that brought about the end of the dinosaurs, and looks forward to a new world with the reptilian and mammalian survivors of that catastrophe.
Timelines guide the reader through the different strands of the dinosaur eras, and the size of all the dinosaurs is indicated throughout to illustrate just how huge (or small) they were compared to modern animals.
