As interest in reading manga has grown over the past few years, so too has readers' desire to learn how to create their own manga characters. To date, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Drawing Manga, Illustrated, has sold more than 32,000 copies, and Alpha's first manga spin-off title, he Complete Idiot's Guide to Drawing Manga, Illustrated: Fantasy Creatures, has sold more than 8,000 copies in its first two months.
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Drawing Manga, Illustrated: Shoujo is positioned to follow the success of the first two titles by offering readers how-to instruction specific to creating the specialized characters and backgrounds that comprise the female-driven, romanticized world of manga known as shoujo. With more than 300 illustrations, readers learn stroke by stroke how to create everything from winged princesses to robotic girls and fantasy settings from the historical to the futuristic.
As with the other titles in the series, each step-by-step illustration in this book builds on the preceding one, using a second colour to highlight the new strokes, and ends with a full-colour rendering of the final character, complete with background.
