Tricot, sometimes known as Tunisian crochet or shepherd's knitting, has been referred to variously as a cross between knitting and crochet, a combination of knitting and crochet, and the origin of both knitting and crochet!
It is an easy-to-work craft which grows quickly so garments and other items don't take long to make! This book gives a history not only of tricot, but also the early use of wool, and of tricot in Victorian times.
As well as amply illustrated instructions for over 50 different tricot stitches, there are directions on how to make a tricot hook, dyeing yarn in the microwave oven, very easy to follow patterns for everything from sweaters to baby bootees (no tension squares!) and a chapter full of advertisements and items from bygone days.
