Thirteen-year-old Zardi loves to hear stories about fantastical beings, such as djinni and sorcerers, long banned from the kingdom of Arribitha. When Zardi's own beloved sister is captured by the evil ruler, Zardi knows that she must risk everything to rescue her. In the deep of night, Zardi, now disguised as a boy, and her best friend, Ridhan, flee toward the docks. There they join with an unlikely crew of sailors led by the infamous Captain Sinbad and head out to see. Soon thrust into strange and wondrous territory, Zardi and Rhidan pursue a seemingly impossible mission: to bring magic back to Arribitha and defeat the sultan once and for all.
