It's September in New York and Taylor is staying in an apartment overlooking Central Park. She's taking a break from the West Coast and is writing a book. She's even secured a spot on a cable channel as a talk-show psychologist. One evening Rick Forrester rings and asks her out to dinner. As they walk home Taylor is approached by a strange man, who asks for her autograph. Then the man tries to grab her, saying he's been watching her and intends to kill her. Rick fights with the man and chases him, but the man escapes. Taylor is naturally shaken so Rick stays the night to make sure she's okay.
The next morning some hate mail is delivered to Taylor's apartment. Rick contacts the police and decides to stay in New York to help Taylor through this trauma. They grow close over the next few days and their attraction flares once again. They're walking in Central Park when Rick kisses Taylor. The next day their kiss is on the front page of every scandal sheet in the country. The police apprehend a possible suspect and Taylor tells Rick it's time for him to leave. Reluctantly, Rick does as she asks, but he can't stop thinking about her. He returns to New York a few nights later to find the stalker has broken in and is holding Taylor hostage. Rick fights the stalker off and Taylor falls into Rick's arms.
