POWs On The Burma Railway
This book tells in veteran Leslie Hall's own words and through the diaries and memoirs of others who survived, the story of the men of "A" force who laboured as prisoners of the Japanese on the notorious Burma-Thailand Railway from April 1942 until late 1943. But as well as being a story of inhumanity, it is also one of courage. Out of hardship and brutality, out of starvation and disease, out of the devastating death toll, there grew up friendships and sacrifices and inspiring qualities of character, sometimes from the most unexpected sources. When death seemed preferable, these men dared to live.
