The songbook accompanying the ABC FM's Swoon CD collection.
The Swoon collection CDs, from the popular segment on the ABC Classic FM Breakfast program, made history. The trilogy of now classic albums are still the highest selling classical compilations ever released in Australia and are responsible for introducing intensely beautiful music to thousands of people.
Works by long-forgotten composers, new Australian music, and works from other cultures stood alongside masterpieces by the likes of Bach, Mozart and Handel. The Swoon Segment became a favourite feature of the Breakfast program, then hosted by Christopher Lawrence. The success of the CDs confirmed just how treasured this segment had become in people's lives. It seems that very few households in Australia are without at least one Swoon CD.
The ABC will release the CD 'Swoon: The Piano Album' especially for the release of this songbook. It will feature newly recorded piano arrangements of all tracks from the songbook played by a prominent Australian pianist.
