Kevin McCloud is widely recognised as the premier commentator on modern architecture. He has built up an international reputation over the past decade with his ground-breaking television series Grand Designs. Such has been the success of this iconic show that covers the life of a unique house build, that it spawned two further series 'Grand Designs Abroad', and, 'Grand Designs Down Under'. Kevin has been the viewer's guide as the show details the truly epic builds, as well as the sometimes more mundane types; from planning, right through to the finished (or, as finished as time allows!) construction. He has been the storyteller of joy, laughter, despair and torment as the build progresses and it has all made for superb television.
To celebrate ten glorious years of programming in 2012, he now delves into the archives to show to fans of the series which were actually his favourite builds, and why? Supported with archive photography, building plans and Kevin's own unique take on why he liked, or disliked, the building's progress over the life of the show, it will be a remarkable book to leaf through and relive the moments we all have as to what was our own favourite constructions. Reflecting the people that create the place, too, the book is organised around the key themes of nesting, statement and protection.
