A decade that generated sitcoms such as 'Ab Fab', 'Bottom' and 'One Foot In The Grave', sketch shows like 'Harry Enfield And Chums', 'The Fast Show' and 'Goodness Gracious Me' and spoofs like 'The League Of Gentlemen' and 'I'm Alan Partridge', could hardly be described as comedically barren.

Radio remained a fertile comic breeding ground, with 'Goodness Gracious Me', 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' and the blackly comic 'League Of Gentlemen' all enjoying huge success on BBC Radio before going on to TV fame.
