A story of determination, courage and adventure. Her love affair with flying began when she was eighteen with a birthday present from her mother, a ride in a hot air balloon. This lead to planes then to parachute jumping.
However, her love of flying was also to cause the most devastating change of all. In 1990 she was in a plane that crashed. Allana was one of the only two survivors, and she sat in the plane with a broken back for three excruciating hours. Four of her fellow passengers died horribly in her presence. Allana's injuries were extensive and it wasn't known if she would ever walk again.
Despite her horrific injuries, Allana taught herself to walk and then to fly again - overcoming the greatest hurdle of all. From planes she ventured to flying helicopters, wing-walking and, in 1997, she became the first woman to complete a solo helicopter flight around Australia.
