Charlie is very excited when a present arrives from his grandma. But instead of all the wonderful possibilities he imagines, inside is a hand-knitted jumper in rainbow striped wool. His mother tells him he must thank Gran for going to all that trouble, so he picks up the phone and says, "Thanks you for my yukky present!" and hangs up. Over the coming days, the jumper seems to have developed a life of its own and, one night it asks Charlie to go on a magical journey - a quest for the jumper's own sheep.
